Achyut Koulgi grew up in Pune, India, but now calls Northern Virginia home. Achyut is currently the Vice President of Consulting, where he is responsible for managing the consulting team and is involved in strategic planning and execution of growth initiatives. He is a member of the Executive Team that oversees Sales, Marketing, and Operations at ORBIS America. Achyut also plays a key role in leading and delivering SAP projects for many of ORBIS clients. In his over 24 years at ORBIS he has led and delivered over 40 projects for more than 25 clients. He is a trusted advisor to many of our long-term clients.
Thanks to his father, who worked for Cummins Diesel Engines, Achyut was introduced to manufacturing at a very young age. Again, later when he was in college, his father introduced him to the use of computers in manufacturing. Since then, he has developed a keen interest in ERP, specifically for manufacturing. During Achyut’s time with Alfa Laval, a Swedish conglomerate, he was given an opportunity to work on setting up a manufacturing plant from ground up and then to implement SCALA ERP. This opened the doors for him to work in the SAP domain, first with Tata Technologies, then with Emplifi, and now over 24 years with ORBIS.
If Achyut had one superpower, what would it be?
He said, “the ability to time travel, so I could go into the past and re-live my childhood days. In those days I had many friends from the neighborhood. We spent most of the time outdoors, up to 4 hours in the evenings on school days and 8-10 hours during summer vacation. We played various “un-organized” sports, and this was the most enjoyable time for me. I lost track of all those friends since we moved to another neighborhood after high school, but I would love to reconnect with those friends and re-live those days.”
Achyut has 2 passions outside of work. On the artistic/creative side, he enjoys singing. He is learning Hindustani Classical Music which is thousands of years old and is the foundation of any music. On the physical fitness side, Achyut enjoys running. He has completed 4 full marathons (26.2 miles), over 10 half marathons, a handful of 20-milers, and many 10-milers.
